Simple Fish Fillet Recipe

Servings: 2–4
Prep: 5–10 min | Cook: 10–15 min

Ingredients

  • 4 fish fillets (tilapia, cod, haddock, or catfish)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or butter
  • 1 lemon, sliced or juiced
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • ½ tsp paprika or garlic powder (optional)
  • Fresh herbs like parsley, dill, or thyme (optional)

Instructions

Pan-Fried

  1. Pat fish fillets dry and season with salt, pepper, and paprika or garlic powder.
  2. Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add fillets and cook 3–5 minutes per side (depending on thickness) until opaque and flaky.
  4. Squeeze lemon juice over fillets and garnish with fresh herbs.

Baked

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Place seasoned fillets in a greased baking dish.
  3. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice.
  4. Bake 10–15 minutes until fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.

Grilled

  1. Preheat grill to medium-high and oil grates.
  2. Season fillets and brush with olive oil.
  3. Grill 3–4 minutes per side until fish is opaque and has nice grill marks.

  • Crispy coating: Dredge in flour or panko for a crunchy finish before pan-frying.
