Here’s a classic creamy potato soup — simple, comforting, and delicious 🥔🥣

Creamy Potato Soup (serves 4–6)

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled & diced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • Salt & black pepper to taste

Optional Toppings

  • Shredded cheese
  • Crispy bacon
  • Green onions or chives
  • Sour cream

Instructions

  1. In a pot, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Add onion and cook until soft (3–4 min). Add garlic, cook 30 sec.
  3. Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.
  4. Slowly add broth, stirring to avoid lumps.
  5. Add potatoes, salt, and pepper.
  6. Simmer 15–20 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  7. Mash slightly or blend for desired texture.
  8. Stir in milk or cream; heat gently (don’t boil).
  9. Adjust seasoning and serve with toppings.

Variations

  • Loaded potato soup: add bacon + cheese
  • Chunky style: mash only half the potatoes
  • Healthy: use olive oil & low-fat milk
  • Vegan: use plant milk + veggie broth

Pro Tip

Russet potatoes make it extra creamy; Yukon Gold gives buttery flavor.
